"Scents of lightly cooked cherry and purple plum from Potel’s and
Aviron’s 2010 Moulin-a-Vent Vieilles Vignes anticipate a sweetly fruited
palate impression to which brown spices and hints of caramel add
complexity, though along with that obvious barrel influence comes a
slight dulling and diminution of finishing juiciness; and while there is
a lick of salt it doesn’t engage my salivary glands. I would be
inclined to drink this before the end of 2014.
Stephane Aviron –
who has long taken the lead in his Beaujolais collaboration with
Nicholas Potel – is bottling under his own name beginning with the 2011s
(sources, style, and indeed label design remain the same), so my
reviews of those wines along with more information about the evolution
of this project will be found in this report under his name. I tasted
the Potel-Aviron 2010s last autumn, re-tasting only two of them in the
course of my visit with Aviron in December at his wife’s family’s
domaine in Fleurie La Madone. - eRobertParker.com
