"The Beck 2005 St. Laurent is a remarkable tribute to her skills in the
near perfect storm of a vintage for that variety. Vividly tart black
cherry and beet root are tinged with black pepper and the wines herbal
notes add complexity without suggesting any deficiency of ripeness.
Clean, refreshing, and invigoratingly saline in finish – with its
component of new wood not at all noticeable – this is a lovely and
versatile introduction to its variety...
Operating out of a new cellar for this 33 year old
estate, young Judith Beck – from whose production I have only had the
chance to taste a tiny subset – is clearly managing to achieve the
